About the event
The author of "Bonac" discusses the two major elements that inspired the novel. First, the 400-year-old history of Gardiner's Island and its importance as a nearly pristine example of Long Island's disappearing landscape. Secondly, the history, culture, and fishing methods of the centuries old Bonacker fishing families who live in and around the Springs. The lecture will be accompanied by many of the author's personal photographs.
